Styled Shoot: Utterly Romantic Pink Couture Wedding Dress And Accessories By Chantal Mallett

Designer: Chantal Mallett | Photographed by Sanshine Photography

In Issue 3 of Buckinghams Wedding Magazine (download or order your free copy online) we featured this divine styled shoot from UK designer Chantal Mallett, Sanshine Photography & stylist Charlotte Munro but we promised to share ALL of Sanshine Photography’s fabulous photos with you online – so here they are in all their pink frothy glory – best served with a glass of pink champagne!

“Our shoot was initially inspired by the pink My Fair Lady-esque gown I had recently created and the ethereal location. Each piece I design captures the themes that repeat throughout my work; colour, romance, drama and a mix of period inspirations: Elizabethan, Edwardian and French Revolution.

The pink ‘Eliza’ dress is all romantic froth with dramatic silhouette.

The story behind this design is interesting in that it reflects, very much, on how designers design for clients. It was originally made for another shoot where I knew the photographer’s taste and the model’s look and with reference to the chosen setting, much like designing for a client, I designed the dress to a particular brief but on this occasion, one I had set for myself. I knew the photographer’s taste & the model who was a gamine, delicate, red head whom I knew would look fabulous in pink. She reminded me of Audrey Hepburn & I have always loved Audrey in the black & white race dress in My Fair Lady rocking an hourglass silhouette against her usual body type & I had a desire to create the same curvaceous silhouette for this look.

Further influenced by the romantic pink confection Eliza wears when she visits Mrs. Higgins for tea I made the decision to create this great silhouette in tulle in case it rained on set, which it did, so unlike silk, the dress would be fine. Herein the practicalities of shooting al fresco in the garden during an English Summer!

The opera cape our Eliza wore for the second look inspired by the film’s ball scene was inspired by a creation I had made previously for a client who wanted a ‘Shakespeare in Love’ theme. We paired the cape with a beautiful lace gown by Katya Katya Shehurina

When Sanshine Photography, stylist Charlotte Munro & I decided to shoot an all out My Fair Lady styled shoot a short while later, I also created the pink hat and parasol and one of my handmade tiaras was teamed with the opera cape to complete the look.” – Chantal Mallett

Honeybees Vintage Teas have been loved by all of us here at Buckinghams for the last 3 years and over that time they’ve gone from strength to strength creating the prettiest of pretties for weddings across the East Midlands and beyond.  When owner Helen Aston showed us some of her latest styling ideas in a recent styled shoot collaboration we knew we just had to share it with you.

All the loveliness was captured by wedding photographer Lindsey Arber Photography at The Old Barns, Rothwell earlier this year and it has to be said we’ve fallen head over heels in love with the stationery by Jenna Claire Stationery (new website coming soon!) and the beautiful flowers by The Bouquet Workshop. Top that off with wedding dresses from Amanda Wyatt and Ella Rosa from Wedding Belles Boutique Kibworth and this is one super pretty shoot so get pinning!
