Dreaming Of Couture? Dreams Really Can Come True

Dreaming Of Couture? Dreams Really Can Come True

Beautiful Couture Wedding Dresses by Baroque Couture in Derbyshire

If you’re dreaming of a totally bespoke wedding dress made just for you then look no further than Baroque Couture. Situated in the Derbyshire town of Draycott, Elaina Evans, owner and designer of this luxurious label, creates jaw-dropping couture bridal gowns for brides across the UK and Internationally. Her designs are dramatic, utterly romantic one-of-a-kind statement pieces made exclusively for each bride. Appointments are relaxed and one-to-one with Elaina whom herself radiates a calmness and grace which makes one feel safe in the hands of the fairy godmother of wedding gowns; as though with a simple swish of her cutting scissors your dream wedding dress will appear. It’s no surprise Elaina’s boutique offers a mouthwatering display of stunning dresses from her ‘Baroque Collection’ too. Overflowing with luxurious lace, satins and silks and frothy frills seemingly good enough to eat, sprinkled with bejewelled belts, lavish accessories and sparkly headdresses the boutique is a dream of bridal inspiration. And when I visited her beautiful store on what was a humid, oppressive day I was invited to sip cool lemonade and indulge in fresh strawberries as we chatted about her work. I could almost imagine she had a team of white mice stitching fine gold thread in her sewing room.

Exclusive! Over 50% OFF a selection of Baroque Couture gowns }

It must be two years now since I first met Elaina and she has been styling and designing for brides for many more than that but her eyes still light up with excitement as she talks about her creations; there is no doubt about her passion for every stitch that goes into making a Baroque Couture gown. I will be publishing my interview with Elaina on the blog in due course but I simply couldn’t wait to share with you some of these images from her collection.

You might be thinking couture is out of your reach but rest assured you can call Elaina without any hard sell or pushy sales talk and on average her wedding dresses start from around the £2500 mark BUT if that’s way off your budget – and because dreams really do come true – Elaina is offering a selection of gowns with a magical 50% or more off meaning you could land your dream dress for £1000 to £1500 so there is every reason to call her, mention me and book your appointment. – EJ x

Styled Shoot: Utterly Romantic Pink Couture Wedding Dress and Accessories by Chantal Mallett

Styled Shoot: Utterly Romantic Pink Couture Wedding Dress And Accessories By Chantal Mallett

Designer: Chantal Mallett | Photographed by Sanshine Photography

In Issue 3 of Buckinghams Wedding Magazine (download or order your free copy online) we featured this divine styled shoot from UK designer Chantal Mallett, Sanshine Photography & stylist Charlotte Munro but we promised to share ALL of Sanshine Photography’s fabulous photos with you online – so here they are in all their pink frothy glory – best served with a glass of pink champagne!

“Our shoot was initially inspired by the pink My Fair Lady-esque gown I had recently created and the ethereal location. Each piece I design captures the themes that repeat throughout my work; colour, romance, drama and a mix of period inspirations: Elizabethan, Edwardian and French Revolution.

The pink ‘Eliza’ dress is all romantic froth with dramatic silhouette.

The story behind this design is interesting in that it reflects, very much, on how designers design for clients. It was originally made for another shoot where I knew the photographer’s taste and the model’s look and with reference to the chosen setting, much like designing for a client, I designed the dress to a particular brief but on this occasion, one I had set for myself. I knew the photographer’s taste & the model who was a gamine, delicate, red head whom I knew would look fabulous in pink. She reminded me of Audrey Hepburn & I have always loved Audrey in the black & white race dress in My Fair Lady rocking an hourglass silhouette against her usual body type & I had a desire to create the same curvaceous silhouette for this look.

Further influenced by the romantic pink confection Eliza wears when she visits Mrs. Higgins for tea I made the decision to create this great silhouette in tulle in case it rained on set, which it did, so unlike silk, the dress would be fine. Herein the practicalities of shooting al fresco in the garden during an English Summer!

The opera cape our Eliza wore for the second look inspired by the film’s ball scene was inspired by a creation I had made previously for a client who wanted a ‘Shakespeare in Love’ theme. We paired the cape with a beautiful lace gown by Katya Katya Shehurina

When Sanshine Photography, stylist Charlotte Munro & I decided to shoot an all out My Fair Lady styled shoot a short while later, I also created the pink hat and parasol and one of my handmade tiaras was teamed with the opera cape to complete the look.” – Chantal Mallett

I started the business with a Princes Trust grant. I began making wedding dresses for friends whilst studying at London College of Fashion, and it just grew from there; its what I’ve always wanted to do so I started the business because I love creating wedding dresses. It”s hard to believe its 25 years ago now. There is never enough hours in the day to get as much done as I would like, its always so busy! Creating patterns is my biggest passion and seeing brides on their big day.

Does the responsibility of your business ever scare you? It doesn’t scare me, but I am aware of the huge responsibility it holds. It’s a real honour to dress so many brides for the most important days of their lives.

How do you start your day? Coffee

What do you eat for breakfast? Granola

Are you a morning or night person? Morning – I’m often up at 5am, and find it hard to stay up past 10!!

What do you to unwind? I don’t really, I’m a bit of a workaholic, but I do have the odd glass of fizz.

Favourite meal? A beautifully cooked lemon sole is my fave..

Favourite colour? Black, its pretty much all I wear..

Favourite tipple? Champagne

Favourite mug? My Cath Kidson giant mug

Pet hate? Things not lined up straight. I’m a bit of a perfectionist

Favourite shoes? My Valentino’s

Favourite author? I don’t have time to read!

Which is your favourite Quality Street? The green triangle

Coke or Pepsi? Diet coke – I’m a little obsessed

Do you like Marmite? I love it!

Can you cook and if so what’s your speciality? I can follow a recipe but I’m no Nigella

Most famous person you’ve ever met? I’ve met many celebrities, but the only time I felt starstruck was when I was on face-time with Kate Winslet during a fitting

Secret crush? Aiden Turner of course 😉

Choose 4 people you’d like to have dinner with? Valentino, Joanna Lumley, Graham Norton, and Prince Harry

Favourite room in the house and why? My bedroom because I love sleeping

What colour is your kitchen? It’s neutral

Favourite household appliance? My Nespresso machine

Are you a gardener? No but I have a wonderful Gardener!, I love it because she plants all sorts of beautiful flowers and its a lovely surprise when they flower

Can you keep a houseplant alive for more than a month? Nope that’s why I need a Gardener

What do you want for Christmas this year? Another diamond encrusted ring (I don’t ask for much 😉

What is your proudest moment? Having my children

What’s your favourite memory from your wedding? The vows, It was such a romantic moment. I had a winter wedding at Highclere Castle, otherwise known as Downton Abbey. The setting made the whole experience even more memorable

If you weren’t doing what you do now, what would you be doing? I can’t imagine anything else but it would need to be fashion related

If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be? I would be taller
