Chris & Vanessa | A Boho, Vintage, Rustic Blend For This City Girl And Her Country Boy

The wedding planner becomes the bride for this boho rustic wedding

This is a country boy meets city girl love story. Herself an event planner, Vanessa was feeling the pressure of planning the perfect wedding day. This relaxed and romantic wedding was exactly what the couple wanted.

Chris is a country boy and the most genuine man. The type of guy every girl would wish to become her husband. Vanessa is a city girl. An event manager from Melbourne.

“Every day I wake up, walk into the bathroom and there it is. He’s put toothpaste on my toothbrush. A fresh towel hangs over the shower. In the kitchen, a cup of tea waits for me. These are little things, but it’s the little things that make me fall in love with him over and over again.

I had my shoes made in London to include something old, new, borrowed and blue. My dad passed away some years before so the final touch to my shoes was a brooch with a photo of my dad on his wedding day so he could still walk me down the aisle even though he was no longer with us. I walked down the aisle to a live acoustic cover of ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’ by Elvis Presley. It was my dad’s favourite song. I started my walk down the aisle. I felt so happy to finally see Chris. I stood at the altar and looked around. I was in awe. Everything we had planned for over a year had come together perfectly. The vintage suitcases, the organic greenery, his boys, my girls, the lace was just wow, everything was perfect! We’d ordered over 1000 metres of fairy lights for our reception. The room was so pretty and elegant with vintage lace tablecloths and fairy light curtains draping the room, wood slices as centrepieces with jars of boho flowers and tea light candles.

We made time that night during the reception to have photos taken. We had a moment of being together, just the two of us, with our reception in the background, overlooking everything we had worked so hard to achieve over the past year. These are some of my favourite photos.

The entire weekend was perfect and concluded with breakfast the morning after the wedding, thanking our guests before they headed home. Although my dad was not there to share the most special day of my life with us, that day, I inherited a new family, and a new dad.

Vanessa, the city girl moved to the country with her country boy….”

What’s your most important piece of advice for creating and maintaining a strong relationship?
Always go on dates with each other, even when you’re married.

Tell us about your wedding gown and how you chose it:
I knew I wanted lace. I fell in love with my dress, it was about the twelfth dress I tried on. I knew it was right unlike all the other dresses I’d tried.

What sort of style did you envision for your wedding day?
Boho, vintage and rustic all in one.

What was your favourite moment from the day?
Chris and I took time that night to get photos of us sitting by ourselves having a moment overlooking the venue and what we had worked so hard to achieve.

Any DIY décor elements?
Pallets, signs, favours, suitcases.

Any tips that you can give to future brides?
Get a videographer because I’m so glad we did. You literally relive that day every time you watch your video. It’s not the same with photos.

Bring To Life Your Own Boho-Luxe Lavender Wedding Day

“In need of a dose of inspiration for your Boho-Luxe wedding day? Peruse through this enchanting styled photoshoot from Adorn Invitations amongst the vibrant backdrop of a country lavender field. A free-spirited couple dine on delectable gold flaked macaroons in a setting fit for a Moroccan Princess.”

“Utilising a colour scheme of lilacs, blushes, lavenders and golds – the brains behind this styled photoshoot is event designer and creative director of Adorn Invitations. With years of design experience, the head stylist spearheaded their own cow skull centrepiece and sourced gemstones and crystals from all over the globe to include in the lavish indoor and outdoor tablescapes. Wild floral arrangements of roses, succulents and greenery sprawl along the timber tables and gold foiled laser cut invitations with foil stamped bands introduce guests to the magical day. Gowns from Maggie Sottero and Nicole Spose feature with white henna and dainty floral crowns to create a look that is truly magical.

Wanting to create an aesthetic that was otherworldly and yet easily accessible to every day brides, the team endeavoured to create a harmony between an ethereal bohemian vibe and elegant romanticism. Textured tribal patterns in vivid purples contrast against sleek gold metallic lines to produce a wedding style for both the offbeat and traditional bride.”
